A simple definition is used in the Digital Marketing: Strategy, Implementation and Practice text:

“Communications and interactive services based on digital content accessible through different technology platforms and devices including the Internet, web, mobile phones, computers, TV and digital signage”.

This highlights the technology platforms, used to interact and deliver content, but not the different digital media channels, which are defined separately. The goals aren’t defined here, but within the channels definition.
