Which is best - newsletter or blog?

Q. Which is the better marketing tool, the newsletter or the blog? In this day and age is it better to blog than to send out endless newsletters that bounce or don't get read?

A. If I had to choose one, I’d say start with the blog since it will be easier to produce and will give you benefits of building content for your audience and search engine optimization. If you add an RSS feed, then readers can subscribe in much the same way as an e-newsletter. Better still, I would recommend doing both – I publish a monthly e-newsletter which is based on the pick of my monthly blog posts. Offering an easy e-newsletter subscription will appeal to the majority of punters who don’t use feed readers and an archived version can also give SEO benefits.

Please add your comments, experiences or link suggestions to inform me and other visitors to my site.

I've set it up to be quick, but you can't add true hyperlinks - just text.

Thanks, Dave Chaffey.
