Google affiliate marketing programme launched
Well, Google won't call it an affiliate programme programme, it's a "Pay-Per-Action" option on the Adwords programme. From the publisher side affiliate ads can be served through the the Google AdSense programme.
The Google Affiliate marketing programme is currently in beta in the US. I will let you know when it becomes live worldwide, but its worth planning for using this option - costs will be much more controllable. I suspect that many publishers who now use Google Asense will switch some of their ad units to the affiliate option.
This move will give a lot more credibility to affiliate marketing activity, although it's notable that Google doesn't want to call-it such, perhaps because of the negative reputation of affiliate marketing.
I have believed Google will follow this option for a few years, since it get's around the Click-fraud programme and the affiliate model works so well in e-retail.
