COBIT is a significant framework for managing IT infrastructure and services. It is managed by the IT Governance Institute, which has developed with its member organisations, COBIT; a framework intended to assist organizations in managing their information resources. COBIT stands for Control Objectives for Information and related Technology. First released by the Information Systems Audit and Control Foundation (ISACF) in 1996. It is not a methodology or a standard, but a practical tool drawn from other standards and methodologies.
